Mr Tan, 76

“I don’t want my children to support me. I want them to take care of their own children. I work hard so that my grandchildren won’t have to.”

Mr Tan is a groundskeeper at the National Museum. He has two children and 3 grandchildren. He’s proud of his work to keep the museum grounds clean but some days are a bit harder than others. Ever constant in his mind is that he is working for his grand-kids.

He’s a kidder and when the camera comes out, he strikes up some comical poses with his broom.

“I joke about my life but it is half joking, half pain. But I choose to be happy. It’s a choice you know.”
